The SCN is here to help you!

SCN is a group of parent volunteers whose main role is to support the school’s sense of community, cultivate a spirit of diversity, and promote a feeling of belonging for all families in alignment with the mission and vision of the school. Occasionally, we are also involved in helping administration, faculty and students with projects, but much of what we do is focused on you, parents and guardians to support you as an OSC family.

Throughout the year, we aim to provide the OSC Community with fun, family-friendly activities, as we celebrate traditions, languages, and multiculturalism.  Support for SCN activities directly comes from parent/guardian volunteers, and financially from donations by sponsors and revenue from our events.

What does SCN do?

  • We support strong communication to promote an atmosphere of goodwill, cooperation, and community spirit to further endorse the OSC mission and vision

  • We assist with the integration of the new parents into the OSC community

  • We encourage active participation from parents in events organized by SCN

  • We provide support to the Student Government Association

  • We motivate and guide both Primary and Secondary Class Reps to share important class-level and school-level information, organize events/activities that will promote cohesiveness within the grade.

  • We work hard to establish a healthy sense of belonging for all families in our community

The Class Reps are the backbone of the SCN. They can create their role to be as active as they wish. They will collaborate with the classroom teacher on a regular basis and help get the word out as needed. They are one of the communication links between school, SCN, their grade level, and the parents in support of the school program, mission, and vision, as well as school events. Class reps can take initiative and organize class picnics/trips/social gatherings outside of school as this is also a great way to support connections, help build friendships and facilitate spirit within the grade.
