ACCREDITATION

The Overseas School of Colombo is fully accredited with the U.S. based Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA) and the European based Council of International Schools (CIS).

Accreditation of this nature is intended to ensure our standards are uniform with the expectations of colleges and Universities as well as other international schools around the world. Being an accredited school allows automatic acceptance of our reports and transcripts as meeting a mutually accepted high standard of education. OSC undertakes a regular in-depth review of our school based upon a very comprehensive set of  established standards. A visiting team  of professional educators is then required to undertake periodic on site reviews of our self-study in order to ensure we are meeting all established standards, and to provide required modifications if indicated.

In addition to working professionally with these two respected Accrediting Associations, OSC is also fully certified by the International Baccalaureate Organization to offer three standardized educational programmes. The Primary Years Programme includes grades pre-kindergarten through grade 5. The Middle Years Programme is for our grade levels of 6 through 10, and the externally assessed IB Diploma Programme offers a certified diploma for our 11th and 12th grade students. In addition to following a very clearly proscribed set of requirements, the I.B. office also undertakes regular periodic assessments by external educational professionals.

As the only internationally accredited school of this nature in Sri Lanka, OSC takes the accreditation process seriously and we enjoy the opportunity to reflect meaningfully on our practices against an international standard.
