I am so excited to be your PYP Sinhala teacher. It’s going to be a great year full of new friends, new adventures, and new discoveries. This will be my 3rd year teaching at OSC. I am very passionate about teaching Sinhala in primary school. I started my career as a Primary Math Teacher. Then I was so passionate about teaching children with special education needs, therefore, I moved on to the learning support team.
Multilingualism has become more than just ‘important’. Knowing a foreign language different from your mother tongue has turned out to be extremely beneficial. Language is a key part of any family, community, culture and the human race. Without languages the world today would be much different.
If you have chosen to learn at OSC, you will have plenty of opportunities for you to get exposed to the language and learn phrases, words, sentences and many more things through fun activities!
Let’s make this an incredible year!
In this classroom
Other than learning and exploring Sinhala you are cared about. I value your ideas, thoughts, and actions. You have unique talents and strengths and I can’t wait for you to share them with me and your classmates. I look forward to learn more about you.
I love to have conversations with parents throughout the year about your children’s learning progress. I want to partner with you in order to best support your children.
M31 is our Sinhala classroom and you are welcome to drop by. Please feel free to contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any queries about our Sinhala program.
How often do you have Sinhala?
Grade 1-3 two times a week & Grade 4-5 three times a week.
Learning another language, even as little as a handful of phrases will enable you to interact more with our local community since the majority of Sri Lanka speaks Sinhala. Plus, learning a language is FUN!
