Math Inquiry: Tuning in to Graphs!
This week in Grade 1, the students investigated different types of graphs as a part of our data handling study. Students were presented with a variety of graphs depicting different information. In small groups, students studied the graphs and tried to understand what information they were trying to convey and why this information is important.
Students were directed to use a graffiti board, where they were free to express their thoughts through words, symbols, and pictures.
As they displayed their thinking, many students engaged in conversations about the graphs as they tried to make sense of the information.
This was a great inquiry-based lesson that allowed students to explore the concept of data handling!
